Guangxi Builds a Low-Carbon Pinglu Canal to Safeguard Biodiversity

广西平陆运河项目目前已纳入国家“十四五”规划纲要和《国家综合立体交通网规划纲要》。项目以“河畅、水清、鱼翔、岸绿、景美、低碳”为目标，着力打造低碳运河，力争将平陆运河建设成生态运河、绿色运河。

The Pinglu Canal project in Guangxi has been incorporated into China’s 14th Five-Year Plan and the National Comprehensive Three-Dimensional Transportation Network Plan. Guided by the vision of a “smooth-flowing, crystal-clear river where fish leap, flanked by verdant banks and picturesque scenery—all achieved at low carbon cost,” the project aims to develop a genuinely low-carbon waterway and establish the Pinglu Canal as an ecological and green corridor of world-class standards.

　广西生态环境厅负责人表示，平陆运河沿线生态资源丰富，生态敏感度较高。因此，该部门按照“全面分析保护受体、科学分析影响程度、精准提出对策建议、科学谋划发展趋势”的思路不断完善项目，提升运河的生态环境保护水平。

According to the Guangxi Ecological Environment Department, the canal corridor is endowed with rich ecological resources and high ecological sensitivity. Following the principle of “comprehensive analysis of receptors, scientific assessment of impact, targeted countermeasures, and forward-looking planning,” the department has been refining the project design to raise the bar for environmental protection along the entire waterway.

　平陆运河项目保护沿线生物多样性，实施保护性开发。项目针对性地提出在运河越岭段布设动物通道，促进运河两岸间动物的自然交流，最终形成“多廊+多点”景观格局，构建生物多样、丰富的运河生境。

To conserve biodiversity along its route, the Pinglu Canal will adopt a conservation-oriented development approach. In the ridge-crossing section, dedicated wildlife passages will be installed to facilitate natural movement of terrestrial fauna between the two banks, ultimately creating a “multi-corridor + multi-node” landscape pattern that fosters a diverse and vibrant riparian habitat.

　同时，平陆运河项目还将设置过鱼设施和鱼类增殖站，为鱼类和水生生物提供洄游通道，不断完善生态安全措施。

In addition, fishways and fish-breeding stations will be built to provide migratory routes for fish and other aquatic species, continuously enhancing ecological safeguards throughout the canal system.
