China-Laos Railway adds extra EMU train to serve growing number of passengers
旅客量持续增长，中老铁路增设动车组列车
The Laos-China Railway Co., Ltd. (LCRC) has procured another electric multiple unit (EMU) train, which arrived in the Lao capital Vientiane on Thursday, for the China-Laos Railway, aiming to accommodate the growing number of passengers.
受中老铁路旅客量持续增长影响，老中铁路有限公司（LCRC）为中老铁路增设了一辆新的动车组列车，并于周四抵达老挝首都万象。
LCRC is a joint venture based in Vientiane responsible for the operation of the railway's Lao section.
老中铁路有限公司是一家位于万象的合资企业，负责老挝段铁路的运营。
Anongdeth Phetkaysone, deputy director of the LCRC, said that the EMU train has been purchased to support passenger transportation both domestically and internationally, in order to support the increase in passengers and prepare for Laos' chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and the Visit Laos Year 2024, the local Pasaxon newspaper reported on Thursday.
据老挝当地报纸《Pasaxon》周四报道，老中铁路有限公司的副总经理阿农德斯·佩特凯松（Anongdeth Phetkaysone）表示，购买新的动车组列车是为了满足日益增长的旅客需求，以更好的保证老挝国内和国际客运，同时为老挝担任东南亚国家联盟主席国和 2024 年的老挝旅游年做好准备。
Since its opening in December 2021, the China-Laos Railway has carried 3,197,600 passengers, averaging 4,889 passengers a day and with a record high of 10,197 passengers in one day. In 2023, it carried 1,759,900 passengers in a period of just over eight months.
中老铁路自2021年12月开通以来，已运送旅客319.76万人次，平均每天运送旅客4889人次，并创下单日最高运送旅客10197人次的历史新高。2023年，中老铁路在短短八个多月的时间里，共运送旅客175.99万人次。
In terms of freight transport, a total of 5,381,900 tonnes of goods was exported, averaging 8,229 tonnes a day, with a maximum of 15,250 tonnes shipped in one day.
在货物运输方面，中老铁路出口货物总量达538.19万吨，平均每天8229吨，单日最高运输量达15250吨。
The main categories of goods carried on the railway were fruit, potato flour, barley, rubber, beer, iron ore, concentrated iron ore and chemical fertilizer, said Anongdeth.
阿农德斯(Anongdeth)还表示，中老铁路运输的货物主要包括水果、土豆粉、大麦、橡胶、啤酒、铁矿石、浓缩铁矿石和化肥。
So far this year, the volume of goods exported reached 3,101,400 tonnes, an increase of 138 percent compared to the same period last year, with an average of 11,928 tonnes shipped each day, and a maximum shipment of 15,250 tonnes in one day.
今年以来，中老铁路的货物出口量达到310.14万吨，与去年同期相比增长了138%，日均出口11928吨，单日最大出口15250吨。
