Lao leader gives high praise to China-Laos Railway
老挝领导人高度评价中老铁路

Thongloun Sisoulith, middle, general secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and Lao president, takes a train trip earlier this week from the capital Vientiane to the Chinese border on the China-Laos Railway, which was launched in December. He said the railway helps facilitate people-to-people exchanges between the two nations.

General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith spoke highly of the China-Laos Railway during his recent visit via the Lane Xang electric multiple unit (EMU) train and his inspection of the railway's operation.
乘坐澜沧号、视察铁路运行之后，老挝政府总理、老挝人民革命党中央委员会总书记通伦·西苏里对中老铁路给出了高度评价。
Thongloun, who led a government delegation, took the train traveling from the capital Vientiane to the town of Boten bordering China on Monday, before returning to Vientiane from Luang Prabang on Wednesday.
周一，通伦及其政府代表乘坐澜沧号，从万象出发，前往位于中老边境的磨丁镇（Boten），周三从琅勃拉邦（Luang Prabang）返回万象。
Thongloun said he had a comfortable and safe trip onboard the Lane Xang EMU, and expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved in the operation of the China-Laos Railway since its inauguration in December.
通伦表示，他在澜沧号上度过了一段安全舒适的旅程，中老铁路自12月运营以来取得了诸多进展，他对铁路运营现状非常满意。
The Lao president also said that the railway's operation facilitates people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, and that the Lao people feel proud of the railway.

He expressed hope that the Lao people can all experience train travel and truly get to know the significance of joint implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative, according to Laos-China Railway company.
据中老铁路公司报道，通伦希望老挝人民都能来乘坐澜沧号，切身感受共建“一带一路”倡议所带来的诸多益处。
Thongloun also quoted a Lao proverb as saying that "where there is a road, there is an opportunity for development", reiterating the important role of the China-Laos Railway in promoting development of the Southeast Asian country.
通伦引用老挝谚语“有路就有发展机遇”，强调中老铁路在促进东南亚国家发展中的重要作用。
As of Feb 5, the Lao section of the China-Laos Railway had run a total of 116 pairs of passenger trains, transporting 108,770 passengers, an average of 1,699 passengers per day, in addition to 124.5 pairs of freight trains, shipping 133,191 tons of goods, an average of 2,081 tons per day.
截至2月5日，中老铁路老挝段共运行客运列车116对，载客108,770人，日均客运量1,699人，货运列车124.5对，运货133,191吨，日均货运量2,081吨。
